One control plane for VMware to AHV migrations.
Nutanix Move Manager (NMM) sits above your fleet of Nutanix Move appliances and runs the whole migration from one interface: scan and assess the estate, plan it into waves, place each wave with live capacity awareness, and watch every cutover in real time.
An internal tool I built for Nutanix Professional Services engagements. Not an official Nutanix product; no affiliation, support, or warranty implied.
The problem
A 2,000-VM migration is not 2,000 small migrations. It is one program of waves, dependencies, and cutover windows, usually run by hand across a fleet of separate Move appliances.
Move Manager replaces the spreadsheet and the appliance-by-appliance logins with a single control plane: one estate view, one plan, one record of what moved, when, and whether it came up clean.
How it works
Assess, plan, orchestrate, monitor.
The same throughline behind everything I build: take a complex change and make it legible from end to end.
Assess
Scan vCenter live or import RVTools / Nutanix Collector to score migration readiness across the estate: OS, VMware Tools, firmware, hardware version, snapshots, and disks, with severity-ranked findings, recommended fixes, and Excel/PDF export.
Plan into waves
Group VMs into waves and application tiers, right-size the targets, and place each wave on a cluster with live and projected CPU, memory, and storage so nothing is overcommitted before you commit.
Orchestrate cutover
Drive migration plans across every Move appliance from one queue, through seeding, readiness validation, and cutover, instead of juggling a separate console per appliance.
Monitor & report
Follow every VM live with streaming progress, schedule cutover windows on a shared calendar, keep stakeholders aligned, and export branded reports of the outcome.
What it does
Built for migrations measured in thousands.
Wave planning
Build waves from a live vCenter scan or an Excel / CSV, RVTools, or Nutanix Collector import, with smart batching, category and network filtering, and VM exclusions.
Pre-migration assessment
Readiness scoring with severity-ranked findings, recommended fixes, and Excel/PDF export, at full parity with Move's pre-migration documenter.
Capacity-aware placement
Live and projected per-cluster CPU, memory, and storage with overcommit-aware vCPU math and a rebalance dry-run preview.
Multi-appliance management
Connect, monitor, and orchestrate every Nutanix Move appliance from one dashboard, with provider templates pushed fleet-wide.
App groups
Group VMs into application tiers with rule-based matching so dependent VMs seed and cut over together, in the right order.
Migration estimator
Forecast cutover duration and bottlenecks with saved what-if scenarios across placement, DRS mode, and concurrency.
Move Fabric
Translate vCenter / SRM constructs (port groups, tags & categories, DRS rules, NSX-T networks, SRM recovery plans) into Prism Central v4 entities, with a Terraform bundle generator.
Multi-tenancy
Carve the fleet into scoped tenants with dedicated appliance pools and quotas; tenants self-serve through a branded portal while admins keep fleet-wide oversight and audit.
Real-time monitoring
Streaming progress for every VM in flight, with notifications over email, Slack, Teams, and ServiceNow.
Plus sizing profiles, a migration calendar with change-freeze windows, role-based access with LDAP / Active Directory mapping and API keys, branded PDF reports, and stakeholder communications with a contact book and Go/NoGo tracker.

Real screens from the application.
Wave planning

Create waves from a live vCenter scan or an RVTools / Collector / Excel import. Saved waves scale to thousands of VMs across hundreds of plans.
Capacity-aware placement

Pick a target Prism Central cluster and see exactly how a wave shifts its CPU, memory, and storage before you commit.
Multi-appliance infrastructure

Every Move appliance, provider, and Prism Central in one place, with shared VDDK libraries and reusable appliance templates.
Migration plans

Track every plan across all appliances through seeding, readiness, and cutover, from one queue.
Service-provider oversight

Run the fleet as a service provider: per-tenant scopes and quotas, with fleet-wide activity and VM-state oversight.
Tenant self-service portal

Each tenant gets a branded portal to drive their own waves within the scope and slots they've been granted.
At scale
Deployed as a self-contained appliance on AHV.
NMM ships as a Linux virtual appliance you import into Prism Central and boot on any AHV cluster. No Docker, Python, or Node.js on the target. It connects to your existing Move appliances, vCenter, and Prism Central, and runs the migration from there.
